This is a new LOTOS LTSWH500 welding helmet. The LTSWH500 is solar powered and gets its power from the welding arc, so it turns on automatically. It comes with three years warranty on parts. This helmet is made for Arc or Stick, MIG welding, Tig welding and plasma cutting. It is also suitable for low amperage DC Tig welding which is a very hard arc to sense.

Shade AdjustmentIt features a shade adjustment for light or dark settings. This feature allows you to set the helmet to a lighter shade when welding thin material and a darker shade for welding heavier material.

Plasma CuttingAllows you to use the helmet locked in the light state (shade 4), which gives you UV and IR protection to a shade 13. Plasma cutting has a limited arc, but still requires protection. This setting lets you see what you are cutting while providing maximum protection.

It is a decent helmet. However some things are misrepresented in the ad.

Advertised as adjustible dark 9-13. It is not. It is fixed at light DIN 4 / dark DIN 11. There is no knob as shown.
Two, two-state settings are all it has.
Sensitivity High/Low. (Low sensitivity = grinding mode?)
Delay Fast/Slow.

Advertised as a LOTOS LTSWH500. It is not. The helmet is an unknown manufacturer model ADF-200 not even the Lotos brand.
Neither the helmet, box or manual or any other materials that are part of the actual helmet, indicate a brand.
A lotos mini catalog was included in the box but I get the impression this was just slipped in there

The LOTOS LTSWH500 has a rechargeble battery.
The manual indicates that the battery is not user servicible but identifies it as a "Li" battery.
Li batteries are non-rechargible as far as i know. Li-Ion batteries are rechargible.

The reason I picked this helmet is that it supposedly has a 100% rechargeable battery running 100% from ambient light and welding rays into the solar cell. Other helmets explicitly have a multi year non rechargible power cell in them. I can't really tell if this one has that feature or not but If it doesn, when the batteries are dead the helmet is dead because the manual says that
the batteries are non-serviceable.

On the bright side I think the response time is slightly higher (according to the manual) at 1/20,000 for the ADF-200.
The LTSWH500 is only 1/10,000. Its a good helmet from what I can tell though and still a very good helmet for the money. So far I've done a bit of welding and grinding and so far no problems with function. Comfortable. Sometimes it triggers when I turn my head from room lighting on high sensitivity. Sometimes it triggers from grinding even when on low senstitivity but it's not enough to be a problem.

It is my first welding helmet. I had welded before with fixed dark goggles and I will say that autodark is the ONLY way to go. You need to be able to see what you are doing before you strike the arc. That can be managed with fixed dark helmets using a very bright ambient light or flipping the helmet up and down. But who can hold their hands still while doing that and this eliminates the need for that.

The manual indicates that the helmet is 4/11 dark the helmet indicates 3/11 . . .
The auto dark filter module in the helmet indicates Model: ADF-200 ANSI Z87.1 CAN/CSA Z94.3 ANSI YXE Z87 W3/11 CE 1883 3/11 YXE 1/2/1/2 EN379.
