Boker Plus TD Yellow Knife Review

One of my favorite low-cost knives has been the Kabar Dozier series (e.g., Ka-bar Dozier Folding Hunter Thumb Notch Knife, Blaze Orange Handles). I recommend that to pretty much everyone who asks what is a good knife that doesn't cost too much.

That still stands, but Boker's "Roper" (or sometimes "TD" for some reason) knife offers similar quality and construction, but with a more distinct ergonomic shape. The Boker costs more, but in my opinion should fall under the same budget category.

Here are some similarities and differences:

1. Both are made in Taiwan with Japanese AUS8 steel.

2. The overall size is almost the same, but the Dozier's simpler design might be better for abnormally large hands. The Dozier's blade is slightly thicker.

3. Both have a good edge bevel angle, making them easy to touch up on a v-style sharpener.

4. The Boker pocket clip can be reversed from tip-down to tip-up (i.e., the clip can be mounted on either the front end or back end), but NOT for left-handed instead of right-handed. The Dozier clip can switch from left-side to right-side, but must remain on the back end.

5. Both have a good solid lockup on par with some more expensive brands.

I hope this Boker is a long-term seller, because it really is one of the top two general-purpose everyday knives.
