I ordered this Gear Wrench from Amazon on December 13, 2011 and received it promptly, but just put it in my tool box to use later because of the cold and wintery weather in the Reno/Sparks area from November through March. I own six other S.A.E.Gear Wrenches, plus a set of four metric Gear Wrenches that I've never had a problem with, but needed a 9/16" Gear Wrench for some furniture repair.

Today, on March 20, 2012, I took that new 9/16" Gear Wrench out of its hard plastic end holder to use it and discovered that it had no ratcheting action. The ratcheting gear did not engage or disengage , nor was there any indication of a broken internal tooth. It just spun freely, quietly, in both directions. Since it has been over three months since I purchased it from Amazon, I called Gear Wrench at 1-888-757-1812 because I knew that they had a life-time guarantee.

The Gear Wrench Service Representative who answered my call was polite, and quick in getting the information on where to send the replacement wrench, and promised that I should receive it within ten days. She also informed me that Amazon was not an authorized dealer, and the next time I purchased Gear Wrench products that it should be purchased at four other places that she named, or Sears, for a quick one day replacement.

I rate Gear Wrench Five Stars for their quick and friendly customer service, and within an hour of my telephone call the replacement wench had been shipped out to me via UPS, but I did deduct two stars for this wrench having left their factory in Maryland in a non-operating condition.
