Schroeder 1.184.1 Pivoting/Ratcheting Multibit Screwdriver Review
I originally owned the Craftsman Pro version of this screw-driver OEM'ed by schroeder from early the 2000's until one of my room-mates lost/stole it :). Anyways I just recently re-purchased this guy again, and this is still my favorite tool in the box. It really allows you to put down torque on a screw. I mostly use the twist handle to get locked in screws without having to use WD-40/liquid wrench or ones that have been put in with loctite. I do remember my craftsman version having a stronger magnet at the head that was a bit hard to get the bits out ( the old bits where goldish colored), but this schroeder version wasn't a problem at all. The handle swivle (sp?) mechanism is tight and stays in place when verticle with the handle. It has a 6 hole bit holder that fits on the shaft, and also the 6 slots in the bottom of the handle. The handle slot piece is just pushed down a bit to get access and twisted in either direction. The construction is solid in your hand, and feels like a thick ABS plastic. I haven't seen a comparable interchangable screw driver by any of the major manufacturers (craftsman, snap-on, wiha, etc) that are this nice. Can't recommend this tool enough, and it's too bad you can't find schroeder tools more readily available online. I don't mind paying the extra cost for Wiha and other german made tools vs the garbage you find at home depot/lowes, except maybe klein :)Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "Schroeder 1.184.1 Pivoting/Ratcheting Multibit Screwdriver" are high quality item.
