I'm editing this review once again. Why? Because I have to admit that after using this knife for going on two years now, it really is better my original and second review. Originally I gave it one star because I was utterly disappointed in it. Then I raised it to two stars because it cut much better than I thought.Does the knife have problems? Absolutely. It is too small to be a great rigging knife and the the bail which acts as the lock for the marlin spike is awkwardly placed to allow easy use of the spike. The shackle key is also too small except for some of the smallest nuts/bolts you're going to need to turn.
With that said, I've been using the blade to cut all sorts of things for the last two years, and remains as sharp as ever. I've cut up boxes, whittled wood, used it for cutting speaker and telephone wire. scrapping stickers of metal, etc. It stays sharp and the blade is as tight as ever. As for the spike and location of the bail when it locks it in place, I've just opted not to worry about locking the spike and just pick knots with an unlocked spiked. It works fine.
The knife is small and takes up no space in your pocket. If nothing else it makes for a handy back -up and or a go to knife when you don't feel like breaking out the big rope knife to cut a small line.
It took me two years to figure it out, but the knife really is worth the money and it has proven it can hold its own if you give it a chance.
