If you want a heavy duty knife you will be happy with the esee 5, even after you read about its 1/4 inch blade and its 16oz weight you will
still be surprised what a beast this knife is.

I bought the black blade with the plain edge. It comes with a kydex sheath and a kydex panel with a clip that screws onto the sheath.
I didn't think i would like that setup but when i clipped it to my belt it actually rides pretty nice.

The 1095 steel can rust if not protected, which is not a problem for me alittle rem-oil does the trick.

I bought the esee 4 a year ago and liked it so much i just recently (3/20/12) bought the 5 . I can't say enough about the quality of these esee knives.
Be careful when you buy one cause soon after you will want another. When your wife says " Tom where is that 100 dollars for my new dress" and you go UMMMM? ,,we will know where it went lol.

So if a heavy knife is not a problem for you invest in the Esee 5

Survivor HK-907L Tactical Fixed Blade Knife 11.75-Inch Overall Review

Looks to be one long solid piece of Chinese mystery stainless steel. The saw teeth which cover part of the back were pretty dull. Some work with a file helped. It is only a small section of saw anyway. Perhaps useful to make traps. There is a provision for a lanyard at the base of the handle. The one it comes with is dubious shoelace string. It needs to be replaced with paracord. Blade itself was fairly sharp upon arrival. There is actually a warning to that effect on the box. A small amount of work on a pull through sharpener and the blade became very sharp. I have not tested it so as to form an opinion od edge holding or durability.

The handles are somewhat poorly fit black plastic. There is the possibility of blisters. There are only two screws that secure the plastic handle slabes to the tang. In the middle on one side there is a cheap plastic that a way compass inset. The otherside just has an indentation, filled with a comsetic plastic piece. This piece got lost when it well out.

Design is distinct enough to draw eyes to it.

Sheath is cheap but usable black nylon.

Well balanced and strong for the 18 volt size. This is also lighter than a 14.4 volt Dewalt I have. Due to the design, it stands up even with a heavy bit in the chuck.
