I've got two of these Tajima Aluminist utility knives in different colors. they are exceptionally strong and work well for everything from cutting boxes to scoring sheetrock. the blades fit tightly into a blade guard that is made to close tolerances, and the blade guard is held firmly by an outer handle. Blades are moved in and out of the blade guard by loosening the screw, moving, and re-tightening. Tajima uses 1" break-off blades which are an order of magnitude stronger than the 1/2" break-off blades. The quality of this tool is what you would expect of Tajima.

Tajima also makes an autolock Aluminist utility knife that's about the same price - e.g. search for "Rock Hard Aluminist magazine knife, Dual Lock, with 3 Rock Hard blades, chrome" - same blades, same quality, same sturdiness, but a step lock rather than a screw lock. I prefer the screw lock because I can more finely adjust the blade extension, but the "dual lock" model is worth looking at.

Like most tradesmen, I've gone through scores of utility knives over the years, and these Tajima Aluminists are the best I've found so far.
