Schrade SCH504 X-Timer Linerlock Knife, Black G-10 Handle with Stainless Clip Point Blade with Thumb Hole and pocket clip Review

I purchased this knife from SMKW for less than $10. It is made in China but I find the quality to price ratio in this knife is outstanding! It says China on the box but it is nowhere stamped on the knife itself which I love. It kind of reminds me of the Byrd Cara Cara in design. The fit and finish on this one is great. G-10 handle is tough and comfortable in my large hand. The strong steel liners are skeletonized to reduce weight thus giving a knife of this size great EDC capability. I trust this liner lock and it locks into place with a solid and satisfying "click". This knife blade, once slightly adjusted to my liking, flys open with a flick of the thumb and has no blade wobble at all. This one came razor sharp out of the box. The steel blade sharpens back easily enough onced dulled. The pocket clip is high riding,similar to the SOG design and the knife just disappears in the pocket! Not too tight or rough on the pocket either. I have much more expensive knives that I love but this knife amazed me for its price point. I will get more of these X-Timer folders simply based on my experience with this knife.

Clarke Drum Sander Ez-8 Expandable Drum Review

I am a DIYer. I rented one of these from the HD, expecting a miserable experience, as I had before with rented sanders. A floor sander is in a class of power tools that are not practical for a DIYer to own. I was doing a 3 1/4" oak strip floor, on the second floor and I had no one to help me. The sander weighs about a ton, so I had to break it up (it made to be taken apart) to take it up my oak staircase. It was still heavy, with the main unit probably weighing 80 or more pounds. The removable parts probably took off 10 lbs or more. I was not happy when I finally got it set up on the job.

Then, I fired it up. It was an absolute dream. It is so easy to use and did such a good job that I couldn't believe it. NO dust in the air, edges feathered out nicely, easy control. So much better than any sander I had rented previously. A marvel. I'm tempted to buy it (the HD will sell used units) but I don't think that I could cost justify it. I love great tools and this is a great tool.

As long as you have someone to help you carry it up stairs, you're fine. I am 67 years old and it was quite a job. Assuming you don't have a second floor, this is a perfect choice. This is an example of a great company that builds stuff right and THEN puts a price on it. A real pro product. If you a considering buying a unit, I would bet that this unit will hold up well in commercial service. A great American product. This machine will pay for itself in short order.

Bosch 34614 14.4-Volt 1/2-Inch Compact Tough Drill/Driver Review

I bought this as a replacement for a Milwaukee cordless that could not be repaired due to parts being unavailable. Although both were about the same price, this drill is not the equal to the Milwaukee. It is heavier and not as comfortable. The batteries do not hold their charge as long and it doesn't have the power the Milwaukee. Obviously, a cordless tool is going to be used outdoors. I had it less than a month and rust started to appear on the chuck. The keyless chuck constantly loosens up which is a big aggravation. The case it came with is basically a throw away. I'd always had the impression that Bosch was a good brand, but this drill has really put me off and I doubt I'll look at any of their products in the future.
