I have been using the Excalibre for a few weeks now. I find it to be a fabulous burner. The two stations make it far more versatile than single station carvers. It is very common to be burning with one tip and then need a different tip to continue to create the design. The tips are HOT of course, as well as the handle; you need to wait for the handle to cool down before switching blades... a frustrating waste of time. Switching between handles, as you can easily do with this machine, allows you can keep up your momentum and creativity.

A good burner needs to provide the same amount of heat/energy to the tip. This unit does this with exactness! Some neophyte wood burners do not realize that different tips AND different woods need different amounts of heat/power, so the same number setting on the machine has little correlation with the amount of heat produced at the wood/tip junction. You need to understand this to be a successful wood burner. This machine will produce the same amount of heat/power to the end of the hand piece; the wood burning tip and type of wood changes the amount of burn applied to the wood... that is where the art of wood burning comes in.

The Excalibre does its part perfectly, the rest is up to our individual skills. There is no better unit to my knowledge and I recommend its purchase to anyone.
