UPDATE 2013 0314 I just looked to get another pair of these and the price has more than doubled. 19 Dollars my heiney. If they are around 8 dollars, buy them. For the 18 the dollars they were priced at when I updated this review, go get something else. How do prices change like that ??

The best test for needle nose locking pliers is releasing the lock and trying to twist the top and bottom jaw so they do not mate up. This Stanley was as strong as my name brand pliers and is a bit less in price. Nicely finished, the release works very smoothly as does the adjuster and it feels heavy in the hand like it should
I have never had a Stanley plier fail on me during my long tool abusing life and this plier acts just as well made as all the others.
